Calling all applicable work-study students! There are jobs available for you on campus right now!
If you are currently in the work-study program or plan to be in the work-study program next semester or next school year, please keep in mind that the college has jobs and resources available for you to succeed.
If you are already a part of the work-study program and currently do not have an on campus job, you can contact the Job Resources Center (JRC) at 708-974-5737 or jrc@morainevalley.edu. You can also contact financial aid to make sure you are applicable for the work study program at 708-974-5726 or financialaid@morainevalley.edu.
It’s important for me to mention that if students do not utilize this opportunity by next school year, the amount of CWS monies could be reduced for Moraine for the 2021-22 school year. Yes, you read that correctly. If we do not utilize all the work study program funds provided to us through financial aid, MVCC’s portion of the federal program could be reduced.

For students who have never heard of the work study program, it provides on-campus employment for students. Students who receive Federal Work Study funds must demonstrate need, be paid federal minimum wage and perform work-study employment from 5-20 hours per week. The number of hours worked is based on the amount of work-study dollars awarded and financial need for each student in their individual Financial Aid packages from the college. Remote work is available through this program.
The JRC is looking to provide students with on campus jobs. I know for a lot of students, it is quite difficult to have a regular job right now and be financially stable. This could be an awesome opportunity for students who are looking for a way to keep money in their pockets and have some great experience for their resumes. Please keep it in mind if you are eligible and are looking for a way to keep busy during the current state we are in.
If you are interested and think you are eligible, make sure to contact financial aid today! You can also contact me at hassenl2@student.morainevalley.edu if you would like me to give you some students’ perspectives of the work-study program. Then, you can decide whether you think this program would be good for your current situation.
