Heathers: The Musical is a smash hit show that is taking over the Dorothy Menker Theater this November, running this weekend and next through Nov. 10.
Though the show is called Heathers, it doesn’t follow much of the three Heathers. While they are an integral part of the show. Each of the Heathers had their own import in each scene. Heather Chandler, the leader of the pack, dies early in the show- but she continues to appear in Veronica’s conscience. No one can see her except for Veronica, and this is showcased when the other Heathers are cleaning out her locker. Chandler is there, but of course the other girls don’t see her. At one point, Chandler is saying something to Veronica, and she gets annoyed and yells “Shut up, Heather!” Heather Duke thinks Veronica is talking to her, because Heather Chandler would always yell at her. Duke responds by saying, “Don’t tell me to shut up. I don’t have to shut up anymore.” Then she puts on Chandler’s signature red scrunchie.
Overall, I’m excited for this show, and I know the show will have a great run. There has been such a great buzz around campus for the production. The cast seems to have such a great chemistry and energy throughout the show.
Don’t forget that after the Sunday, November 3 show, the cast will be participating in a talk-back after the show. Some of the cast members will be on stage to answer questions, as well as a few members within the crowd that can offer answers, too.
Tickets are $15 for the General Public, $12 for Seniors and MVCC Staff, and $10 for children and MVCC Students (with ID). Friday and Saturday show times are 7:00 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m.
