For the past five years baseball in Chicago was ruled by the Cubs. The north siders made four consecutive playoff appearances, three consecutive NLCS appearances, a World Series title and not a single losing season. As for the Sox they have been in the basement of the Al central.
This year seems to be quite different. Last offseason the swing and miss for Manny Machado made it difficult for White Sox fans to support the team. Missing on Machado might have been a blessing in disguise for the south side.
With plenty of cap room the Sox pounced whe free agency opened up this year. With the signings of Dallas Kuechel and Yasmani Grandal and the arrival of all of their top prospects there might be a power shift of baseball in Chicago this year.
