Comic art isn’t what you would typically find in an art gallery. But at The Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery at Moraine Valley’s Fine and Performing Arts Center, that’s what you’ll find in the exhibit “Ha! Comic Creations by Gene Ha.”
Growing up as a child of immigrant parents, Ha struggled to fit into America, and he put those struggles into his artwork.
Ha turned his passion into a substantial career within the art of comics and has had the opportunity to work alongside many mainstream names within the comic book world, including Marvel and DC.
He published his first work in 1993 but has continued honing his craft up to the present day. Ha is currently working as an artist for “Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons,” which will be released this spring.
He is most recognizable for his work on the “Top 10” series along with his newer comic series “Mae.”
Ha’s work will remain on display in the FPAC through March 7. Exhibitions are available for viewing Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors will be required to wear masks.
Ha was also recently interviewed by Moraine’s Professor Erik LaGattuta. He shared his story and gives an insight into his fascinating career within the arts. The video of this interview will be released later this spring.
