As the weather grows colder and the year winds to a close, several campus clubs and organizations are thinking beyond themselves to make the holidays special for the less-fortunate, both on Moraine’s campus and in the surrounding communities.

Boots to College continues its Toys for Tots campaign.  Donations of new, unwrapped toys can be placed in the collection boxes on the second floor of the G buidling, the H building and at the Blue Island campus.  The last day of donations is Dec. 5. Marine Veteran and Moraine student, Patrick Salem, initiated this year’s toy drive.

Project Care Food Drive is collecting non-perishable canned and boxed foods for the on-campus student food pantry. There are collection boxes in the H, L, and S buildings.  Collections can be made through January 31, 2020 at any of the collection boxes. Students who are in need of the food pantry services can see Shanya Gray in S202, second floor in the s building.  The Counseling Center also has resources available for students in need of transportation through PACE bus passes, and financial assistance in emergency situations including fires and natureal disasters, death of a parent, spouse or significant other, divorce, job loss, medical emergencies, accidents, or homelessness.

The Black Student Association with the Children’s Learning Center is collecting a wide variety of items for the Crisis Center of South Suburbia. Their drive begins Monday, November 18 and concludes Dec. 13. Specifically, they are looking for the following items: toys (especially those appropriate for children under three), individual snacks, cereal, infant formula, bottles, and diapers.

Any and all donations to these organizations are appreciated and welcome.
