Dear fellow students,
Welcome to Moraine Valley Community College!
Today marks the beginning of a new school year. Whether you plan to complete a program, transfer to another institution, or learn for fun, you chose an amazing place. Moraine offers something for everyone. By joining many others in the pursuit of knowledge, you will have the ability to improve yourself, make beautiful memories, and meet many amazing people along the way.
My name is Nematallah Hasan, and I am your Student Trustee. My job is to represent the students of Moraine Valley Community College on the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is a team that makes decisions for our college.

Student Trustee 2022-23
One of my goals as Student Trustee is to shine a light on our resources here at Moraine. That being said, the beginning of the school year is a great time to set goals for ourselves, as well as planning the steps to reach said goals.
As students, we should all make the goal to learn and do our best academically. In the spirit for this new academic year, I would like to share some tips to optimize your time here at Moraine. Here are a few tips to help you on your journey:
1) Once you get your syllabus with assignments, write them out in a calendar. This way, you will be able to pinpoint exactly what you have due and when.
2) Utilize resources offered here at Moraine Valley Community College. A great resource we have is the tutoring center. They offer a wide range of subjects, and online options are available. Here is a page offering more information.
3) Another resource we have is the library. Prefer the quiet? You can schedule a time block in a private room at the library. Lost a textbook? You can rent out a copy for a few hours. You can rent out other study materials as well.
4) Do not procrastinate! It leads to higher levels of unnecessary stress, and potentially not doing your best. Give yourself the time needed for tasks in order to flourish.
5) If you are new to campus, you can access maps that show the interiors of our buildings here and display the campus as a whole here.
6) Join an extracurricular activity. Joining clubs offers you a chance to network, make friends, and pursue your passions and hobbies. Student Life will have Clubs and Organizations information at Welcome Days August 23 and 24.
7) Order your materials ahead of time by utilizing the Moraine Valley Community College bookstore. You can have items shipped to your residence, pick them up via drive through, or in person at building D.
8) Do you like intramural sports? Need a workout session during the day? We offer an amazing gym here at Moraine Valley Community College. Full time students (students who take 12 or more credit hours) can utilize this resource for free. The gym is located in building H, also known as the FitRec.
9) Finally, enjoy your time here at Moraine. You can grab a bite at Café Moraine in building U, or take a walk in our beautiful campus. We actually offer a walk area and nature reserve that is gorgeous. However, nature invites other nature, so be careful as you might share this area with coyotes, foxes, or snakes! You will also find many beautiful views, plants, and numerous birds.
As your Student Trustee I would like to know your thoughts and concerns about the college. If you would like to reach me, please do not hesitate. You can contact me at (708)-608-4165 or stop by during my office hours (which will be posted to the official Moraine Valley Student Trustee Instagram).
I wish you all a strong and excellent year,
Your Student Trustee, Nematallah Hasan
