The Hindu religion celebrates two holidays in Dec 2019. Geeta Jayanti on December 8, commemorate the inspiration of the Hindu scriptures of Geeta.  The Geeta is 18 chapters long.

On Geeta Jayanti, Lord Krishna told of the importance of Karma.  Hindus who fast on this day are believed to attain salvation. On the day of Geeta Jayanti, one should read the Bhagvad Geeta, worship Geeta and Lord Vishnu, and utilize flowers in the worship. Those who celebrate in this way are believed to be freed from all sins. Hindu believe that by worshiping in this way, Lord Krishnu will guide followers to the right path for their lives.

Beginning on December 16 and lasting 15 days, Dhana Sankrati is a celebration of the sun god.  It is the beginning of the sun moving into the sign of Sagittarius, and is celebrated with great joy throughout India.  Water and flowers are offered to the sun god early in the morning of the 16th, and many devotees, especially women, fast in the hopes of happiness and fortune.  The holiday is celebrated by all ages with plays and musical celebrations throughout the 15 days.
