On Wednesday, Sept. 11, Prairie State College hosted Moraine Valley’s women’s volleyball team in a highly anticipated match in Chicago Heights. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, they faced a formidable opponent in the mighty Cyclones, who emerged triumphant in all three games.
The Lady Cyclones showcased their dominance throughout the contest, leaving the Pioneers struggling to keep pace, especially after losing a player to injury mid-game. Despite the efforts of both teams, Moraine Valley cruised to a comfortable win, demonstrating both resilience and athletic prowess.
The first set saw the Cyclones claim victory with a decisive score of 25 to 11. Although the Pioneers maintained their defense, they were quickly overwhelmed by the Cyclone’s back-to-back scoring, which included several impressive spikes and strategic serves.
In the second set, the Pioneers tried to mount a comeback, but the Cyclones swiftly regained control, winning 25 to 9, further solidifying their superiority. By the third set, exhaustion was noticeable on the players’ faces after two hard-fought battles.
The crowd watched as the Pioneers adjusted their game plan with player rotations, attempting to find spark, but it proved to be ineffective against the Cyclone’s relentless offense. As the night came to a close, the ladies of Moraine Valley swept all three games, proving why they are the champions of the season. With this resounding victory, the Cyclones not only strengthened their position in the standings but also instilled a sense of determination in their opponents. Prairie State, while disappointed, will surely take a valuable lesson from this match as they look ahead to future games.
