Sophomore Brianna Dvorak takes a swing against Elgin Community College

Going into the week without a win, MV softball went 1-1 after a doubleheader, splitting against Joliet Junior College.

With some much-needed momentum, the team not only picked up the first victory of the year but snagged four victories in a row.

They swept a doubleheader vs Morton College and another vs Elgin Community College with three of the four games being shutouts thanks to Cyclone pitching.

Sophomore Alexandria Palumbo spoke on the team’s improvements, which have propelled them into conference contention.

“We haven’t played in so long with the weather being bad, so we’re back into the groove of game day,” Palumbo said. “We’re 4-0 in conference and I’ve for sure seen a boost in confidence and in effort.”

Though the week was extremely successful, there is still room for improvement after the Cyclones got swept by Kankakee Community College on Saturday. This week is once again jam-packed with lots of action including four doubleheaders spread throughout Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
