The Cyclones baseball team has recently unveiled a revamped field on April 17 with a sweep of Elgin Community College in their double header winning 1-0 and 7-2. Sophomore pitcher Brett Renken threw a complete game shutout in the first game.

In light of the new addition to MVCC, the athletic department has decided to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially introduce the field to everyone. The ceremony will take place on May 4 at 4pm CST via live stream on the official Moraine Valley website.

Many of the baseball team’s players and coaches are extremely excited to have the opportunity to have a fresh setup.

Assistant coach Seth Webb feels that the players definitely had a boost in their play during their first experiences on the diamond. “It definitely put a little more hop in their step,” he said. “They were all looking forward to finally getting the opportunity to play on the new field.”

Freshman catcher Colin Bulger also feels a difference after the exciting addition. “The team’s motivation soared after finally having a field of our own.” he said. “We wanted to prove to everyone that we are deserving of the new field.”

The results since then have shown with the Cyclones going 7-6 after the unveiling of the new field.
