Last week, Moraine Valley’s student body elected a new Student Trustee. Michelle Segovia will take on this role until next Spring; she will be sworn in at the April Board meeting on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. She will be replacing last year’s Trustee, Garrett Weigel.
Segovia won the election with 110 votes or 42.9% of the total number cast. As of Thursday, April 4, Moraine Valley had about 12,742 students enrolled for the semester who were eligible to cast a vote. Unfortunately, only 2%, being 256 students, actually cast their vote.
Mia Poland came in second with 96 votes (37.5%). Dalayna Stevenson came in third with 29 votes (11.33%). Esmeralda Delgado-Mendoza came in fourth with 21 votes (8.2%).
Segovia is in her third year at Moraine and is dual-majoring in Dental Assistance and Marketing/Business. Segovia has made expanding the social connections within clubs and organizations her top priority.
