We’re almost at the end of the semester, which I know can be both the most exciting and anxiety-inducing time for the students and staff of Moraine. With the end of the fall semester in sight, there is a new opportunity for students: applying for student trustee! I know the title may sound intimidating, but I can assure you that this is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had while attending Moraine.
Delilah Wietasch
Student Trustee 2021-22
One of my favorite experiences I’ve had thus far is giving my board report. At the beginning of my term as student trustee, I was extremely nervous about how I would even give such a huge report. The people on the board are so kind and understanding; I’m so grateful that they can understand my nerves.
I also have the opportunity to write articles such as this to reach out to the student body and help spread news about current events and opportunities on campus, like the all of the clubs and organizations. Many are still trying to rebound after being idled during the pandemic restrictions. Click here to explore the ways you can become involved.
To apply as student trustee, you need to meet these eligibility requirements. Then, you’ll need to write an essay and acquire two letters of recommendation. Candidates must also attend two Board of Trustees meetings prior to April 19 to gain an understanding of the scope of the position. There are two meetings before the end of 2021 (Nov. 16 and Dec. 21) and two meetings in 2022 (Feb.15 and March 15). You can fill out the application through MV Connect. You sign in under Students>resources> Student Services>student life>documents and forms>2022-23 Student Trustee Application or click here.
We are also just over two weeks from our Thanksgiving break. The college will be closed from Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Nov. 28. Take some time to be proud of yourself and with what you’ve accomplished this far into the semester. Stay warm, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
