Hey Cyclones!

October is a busy and exciting time here at Moraine! Student Life will be hosting some great

events that also support some important causes.

Student Trustee, 2025 – 26

The Big Pink Volleyball Tournament is coming up at the end of the month, raising money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Fund. Registration is currently open and anyone can assemble a team with a minimum of three players to a maximum of ten. There is a $5 per person entrance fee for players. Members of teams can also purchase Big Pink t-shirts for an additional $10.  Even if you aren’t playing, you can still order a t-shirt for $15, or donate to the cause (use the link above). Teams must be registered by Oct. 28 by dropping off their team registrations in U115 with their cash only payments. The tournament will be Thursday, Oct. 30 from Noon- 4 p.m. in the FitRec (Building H) on the far west side of campus. To form a team, contact Rob Huizenga.

The annual Halloween 5K will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25.  Registration is now open for the race which raises funds for the MVCC Foundation Scholarships. Moraine students and employees can run for a $35 entry fee.  Community members are $45 to enter.  The run starts at 9:00 a.m., and is a tour through the entire campus, utilizing the exterior walk/run pathway and some of the interior sidewalks on campus.  There are free activities for kids before, during and after the run.  Children can also be entered for $15 in the Kids Fun Run at 10:15. There are also opportunities for sponsorships for individuals and businesses.

Both fundraising events are awesome ways to get involved, have fun, and show your support.

I’d also like to remind anyone interested in running for Student Trustee next year to start

preparing early. One of the eligibility requirements is attending at least two Board of

Trustee meetings before April. It’s a wonderful opportunity if you are interested in how the

college operates, and want to serve as a voice between the Board of Trustees and the

student body. There are still five meetings left this school year to meet that requirement, so

be sure to plan ahead since the Board does not meet in January. Requirements and the application can be found on the MV Portal.
