Student Trustee: Run to raise funds, or as the next Student Trustee

Hello Fellow Students,

I hope everyone is doing well in their studies, and if you need anything, I am always here to lend an ear and help you with any questions or problems. During the second half of the Fall semester my office hours are Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can find me in the PTK office on the second floor of the U building. Please feel free to stop by for a chat.

Our ninth annual Halloween 5k run is on Saturday, October 29, at 9 a.m. You can get dressed up in a costume and come and join us. Registration for Moraine Valley students and employees is $35. Same-day registration will be $40. If you are not a student or employee, early-bird fees are $45, and same-day registration is $50. Participants can walk or run the path throughout the campus. There will also be a Kid’s Dash that will start at 10:15 a.m. for children 3 to 12, for $15. There will also be lots of fun activities for families including a pumpkin patch. Proceeds from the event will go to the Moraine Valley Foundation, which provides scholarships to students. For additional information or to register, click the link here.

While my term is far from over, it is time to consider who will serve as the next Student Trustee. If you are interested in learning more about the requirements to run, and specific responsibilities, the information is on MV Connect Portal or click the link here. Eligible candidates must attend at least two monthly Board meetings before the election next April. There are three meetings yet this semester, but only February and March meetings in 2024 as there is no Board meeting held in January. The application for the 2024-25 Student Trustee position is here.
