This month, I would like to put into perspective how Moraine Valley Community College can help you in your career. I’m sharing possible networking opportunities, academic ideas, and clubs for students to join. I also invite you to attend my office hours, and to give you a way to stay updated on office hour changes.

Take courses that could help you in your career
It is highly recommended that you meet with an academic adviser to make sure you are on the right track with your degree. You can check your schedule with an adviser to see if you are taking the correct courses, and they can help you determine your graduation date. They can also give some insight on a course that would go great with your major/career path. Other than your required courses, look for a course that amplifies your resume.
Reach out to professors in your desired field
Your professors will be able to shed some light on your chosen career. Plus, they have firsthand experiences in your subject/career, and that makes their advice valuable.
Ask for networking advice at career counseling
It is possible the counselor knows someone in your field, and they can help you get connected. Just ask!
Join and be active in clubs you enjoy
It does not have to be related to your major, but it is great if that is the case. If you can tie your after school activities with
desired skills and experiences your employer or an admissions officer wants, that is a bonus. With experiences, you have examples that can be used in an interview.
Sign up for winter classes!
Taking advantage of the winter session can help you get credits quicker and can show you as a proactive student.
I hope that these ideas are of use to you and help you benefit during your time here at Moraine Valley Community College.
Finally, I want to invite you to my office hours. I want to hear your voice! My office hours sometimes change, and by following the Instagram account morainevalleystudenttrustee, you will get updates. This account is how I can communicate any changes quickly and easily.
