Welcome back, Cyclones!
I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break and are refreshed for the Spring 2026 semester.
As a reminder, if you are interested in running for Student Trustee, elections are coming up in March. One requirement is to attend at least two Board of Trustees meetings before April. There are currently two remaining in February and March. These monthly meetings provide insight into how the Moraine Valley Board of Trustees operates and give you a glimpse into what you will be doing as the Student Trustee. Another is that you need to be currently enrolled, and continue to be enrolled through Spring 2027. All the requirements are here, and the application link as well.
Serving as the trustee is a unique opportunity for you to have a direct voice in college-wide decisions and to advocate for student interests. If you are passionate about improving the student experience on campus and want to make an impact beyond the classroom, this is your chance.

One memorable topic would be the college’s master plan that has been discussed for the past few meetings. This plan focuses on the expansion and development of the Moraine Valley Palos Hills campus in the coming years. Some of the details discussed would be an expansion of an additional building to make sure there is enough space for program growth in programs currently housed in the T Building. Automotive Technology, Welding, HVAC and Fire Science programs are all showing increased student enrollment, and are outgrowing their current labs. We sought out the input of the community as well as the views of students on how they felt about the college moving forward with this plan. We were pleased to see a net 74% positivity from our community, and their willingness to fund a referendum to help finance a new facility.
If you have any questions or ideas to share, I encourage you to reach out to me at weigelg2@student.morainevalley.edu.
I’m looking forward to a productive and successful semester for all of us. Welcome back, and best of luck this Spring!
