Hello fellow students, for the last time.
Were you aware that I was the second student trustee to be sworn in online? Over this past year, it has been an honor serving as your student trustee. Being trustee not only has helped me to improve my time management skills, but also has given me an overall understanding of how Moraine Valley continues to provide for its faculty and students.
Delilah Wietasch
Student Trustee 2021-22
This past year has been extremely difficult, with the challenges of online learning and the slow opening of the campus. If you are like me, you couldn’t wait until the campus finally opened. When it did, I was able to attend board meetings in person, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
One of my absolute favorite things about being a student trustee was giving my board report because it recognized activities happening on campus. Another highlight was the chance to hear my peers’ wants and needs and present those to the Board. This position has helped me grow not only as a student, but as an individual as well.
As my term comes to an end, I am using this final article to demonstrate activities a student trustee does, and also to encourage you all to vote for the new student trustee this week. You will get an email to cast your vote, with the ability to vote electronically. You won’t even have to go anywhere!
Remember, the student trustee represents you and the entire student body to the Board of Trustees. He or she gives a viewpoint to the board and is the voice of the student body’s concerns and campus activities.
I cannot thank you enough for electing me as your 2021-22 Student Trustee. It has been an absolute privilege to serve and represent MVCC’s student body.
